Fun at Fork In The Road Food Truck Festival!
July 7, 2014
Just a few weekends ago I got the chance to help out at the Fork in the Road Food Truck Festival, my first event as an intern with A/P! It was so great seeing the crowds of people enjoying the festival that we had worked so hard to promote. Although the gates didn’t open until noon, everyone was working hard since 8am to get the festival ready. My shift didn’t start until 11, so I got to see the end of the set up process. I’ve been to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion a few times for concerts, so it was cool seeing it all set up for a different kind of event. Food trucks had been brought into the venue and were parked all along the outer rim, while the stage crew set up the stage for the bands that would be playing. As it got closer to noon, food trucks started firing up their grills and setting up their menu posters for customers to see.
I started the festival off in the best way- with a corned beef Reuben from Evan’s NY Style Deli. After that, I was all set to start taking pictures of the event and surveying some of the customers. Live Nation took care of a lot for us, so we really got to enjoy the festival and make sure everything was running smoothly. While the beginning few hours were slow (there were some dark clouds and a few annoying showers), it soon cleared up and got busy! Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, and how could you not enjoy a day full of food, beer, and live music. There was such a wide array of food, I don’t know how anybody could choose what to eat.
All in all, I’d say it was a really great first event experience. After all the releases and media pitches about the day, it was great to see everything come to life. I headed home around five with a delicious whoopee pie from Whoo(pie) Wagon, a slight sunburn, and a huge smile.
